LinkUp began at the Eight2Five Innovation Hub in Harare, Zimbabwe, where a small team kept returning to the same problem. The dating apps people were using had been designed somewhere else, for someone else, and it showed in every match they served up.
We founded LinkUp on 1 November 2024 to build the alternative from the inside out. Matching that understands how people here actually meet, plans priced for local wallets, and support you can reach on a local number.
Faith was the first thing we built for. This region takes belief seriously, and no international app let you search by church or denomination, so people were left guessing. We made faith a filter you control: narrow it right down to your own congregation, or switch it off completely if belief is not part of your life. Both choices are equally welcome here.
What started as a Harare project now reaches singles across Zimbabwe and the wider SADC region, and it is still built and run from the city where it began.
